Liposuction Plastic Surgery

Liposuction- consistently the most popular aesthetic surgery performed year after year with nearly 404,000 in 2006 alone - is excellent to sculpt and shape the body for a refined physique.

To reshape and contour hips, buttocks, thighs, arms, underarms, breasts and more – Liposuction is a surgical procedure that is safe and effective in getting rid of stubborn, resistant fat deposits – that have not responded to diet, exercise and a healthy life-style.

Liposuction is the best way to bring your body back into (or into) proportion for the person who is trying to make a fundamental change is their life as to – fitness, diet and stress reduction.  There are several techniques used by surgeons today to accomplish this – and many times another procedure will be recommended in tandem with your liposuction surgery – in order to achieve the optimal results you’re looking for.  Dr. Lettieri will be happy to discuss your concerns with you and then tailor a treatment plan that is right for you – and one that will help you achieve your realistic goals – safely and effectively.

Liposuction – Who It’s For:

  • Liposuction is for the person who is at or near his or her ideal, healthy weight

  • Liposuction is for the person with good skin elasticity

  • Liposuction is for the person committed to keeping maintaining a healthy weight

  • Liposuction is best for the person committed to fundamental health, wellness and fitness – along with diet and stress reduction

  • These components are necessary in achieving long-lasting change.

Liposuction – A Look at What It Is:

All liposuction is surgery – requiring tiny incisions, anesthesia, and diligent post-operative care.

Tumescent Liposuction – Dr. Lettieri’s method of choice
Dr. Lettieri uses Tumescent Liposuction because it is hands down the best, most reliable method of liposuction fat removal to date.  This involves the following:

  • Injection of  a solution composed of saline, lidocaine (local anesthetic) and epinephrine – adrenaline which constricts blood vessels to minimize bleeding

  • Small incisions through which Dr. Lettieri will work to suction away fat and sculpt the body area involved

  • Closing of incisions

  • Dressing you in a compression garment which is to be worn for a few weeks

Tumescent Liposuction – still the best method in use to date

What to Expect After Liposuction Surgery:

Swelling, bruising, soreness and achiness are normal – and are to be expected following your liposuction surgery.  These symptoms do subside gradually a little each day – and are pretty much gone after several days.  The numbness may take a few weeks to resolve completely.  Most of Dr. Lettieri’s patients are able to resume a normal routine within 2-4 weeks – but are required to wear a compression garment for up to six weeks.  Returning to vigorous activity is individual and Dr. Lettieri will tell you when you’re ready to do that, but generally it takes about a month.

Choosing a Plastic Surgeon:

When considering any surgery of any kind, it is most important to choose a surgeon who is not only qualified – but one who is also highly skilled and experienced in that procedure.  Consider the following facts about Dr. Lettieri:

  • Dr. Lettieri is double board certified (most surgeons are single board certified)

  • Dr. Lettieri has had eight (8) years of surgery training

  • Dr. Lettieri has had extensive research background – he knows the procedures

  • Dr.Lettieri was one of the first plastic surgeons in America to use lasers – extensively – he’s an expert in the use of lasers

  • Dr. Lettieri has educated other surgeons – teaching them in his areas of expertise

  • Dr. Lettieri is a highly skilled, well trained, experienced plastic surgeon who is among a special league of surgeons today.

  • Dr. John Lettieri is an expert – you can trust him with your concerns –and for a good outcome.

Board Certification – Why is That Important?

To be board certified means that the physician (surgeon) has achieved a higher level of education, training and experience than most physicians – and has met and achieved rigorous standards and qualification in his/her career.  Being certified by one board is a major accomplishment for any surgeon – being double board certifiedplaces that surgeon in a special league among his peers.  Dr. Lettieri is in that special league.
