Dr. Lettieri Announces Retirement from Carolina Plastic Surgery
After decades of caring for patients in the Spartanburg community, Dr. John T. Lettieri will retire on March 1, marking an important milestone for both his career and Carolina Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa. While his retirement represents a meaningful transition, patients can feel confident knowing the practice will continue to provide expert, compassionate care without disruption.
Dr. Lettieri has long been respected for his commitment to patient safety, surgical precision, and thoughtful bedside manner. Over the years, he helped build a practice rooted in trust — one where patients felt heard, supported, and confident in their care. His impact extends beyond the operating room, leaving a lasting imprint on the practice and the many patients he has served.
As Dr. Lettieri steps into retirement, Carolina Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa remains fully open and operational, continuing its mission of delivering high-quality aesthetic and reconstructive care. Patients will transition seamlessly to Dr. Ashley R. Kerekes, Owner and Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon, who has worked closely alongside Dr. Lettieri and is well prepared to lead the practice forward.
A Smooth and Thoughtful Transition of Care
Change can naturally bring questions, especially when it involves a trusted physician. Our priority throughout this transition has been continuity. Patient records will remain securely maintained by Carolina Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa, and no additional steps are required for patients who wish to continue care with our practice.
For those who prefer to obtain a copy of their medical records or transfer care elsewhere, our administrative team is available to help facilitate that process. Patients may contact the office directly at (864) 583-1222 for assistance or guidance.
Meet Dr. Ashley R. Kerekes: Leading the Practice Forward
Dr. Ashley R. Kerekes has been a key part of Carolina Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa since joining the practice in 2021 and now serves as its owner and lead surgeon. Her approach reflects the same patient-first philosophy that has defined the practice for years, while also bringing a forward-thinking perspective grounded in education, innovation, and community involvement.
Originally from West Virginia, Dr. Kerekes earned her medical degree from West Virginia University before completing a six-year integrated Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery residency at the University of Kentucky. During her training, she received multiple teaching awards, recognizing both her technical skill and dedication to mentorship.
Before moving to South Carolina, Dr. Kerekes founded and directed a plastic surgery program in Kentucky. Since joining Carolina Plastic Surgery, she has become an integral member of the Spartanburg Regional Comprehensive Breast Cancer team, caring for patients throughout their reconstructive journey.
Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Kerekes is actively engaged in the broader medical and local community. She is a member of The Aesthetic Society, is featured in The Scout Guide Spartanburg, and founded Reconstruct the Runway, a nonprofit organization that celebrates and empowers breast reconstruction patients. Under her leadership, Carolina Plastic Surgery & Medical Spa has been recognized as Best Plastic Surgery Clinic in the Post & Courier Spartanburg Best Awards.
